Observations and Intrumentation
Providing Observational Data, Facilities, and Research Instrumentation
The Earth & Sun Systems Laboratory's community support activities include the acquisition of new observations, the intercomparison of measurement techniques, the compilation of observational datasets, and the quality control and assurance inherent in scientific studies that utilize observations. These data sets are made available to the research community and are linked from ESSL's field programs page. Other ESSL data resources are available via other NCAR data archives.
The Mauna Loa Solar Observatory, operated by ESSL's High Altitude Observatory, houses several instruments designed to observe the sun at many different wavelengths
