Describe a significant result that was not part of the previous year's plan:

1. Image that represents the discovery, with a "nugget" caption
2. Overview of the work
3. Significance of the discovery
4. Relationship to strategic plan and discussion of how these breakthroughs and unanticipated accomplishments affect future plans
5. Links to supporting detail in the LAR or in the LAR Research Catalog
6. List the entities that sponsored the research. Include NSF in each case, followed by other sponsors if appropriate.
